Interpreting a Forest FireDuring the hot summer months of 2003, a devastating forest fire dubbed the 'B&B Complex' burned through the Central Oregon Cascades, turning almost 100,000 acres into crispy forest. Once the smoke was gone and the ashes settled, IE was called on to create a handful of interpretive signs and a large kiosk. The project came as the result of a partnership between the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon State University, the US Forest Service and the Oregon Forest Resources Institute. The final project was installed in three separate locations along Highway 20 / 22 just east of Santiam Pass.
